History of Stone-Eden

Stone-Eden Christian School celebrates its 25th anniversary this year as a ministry of Stone-Eden Baptist Church. For 25 years, SECS has been faithfully serving the families of this community and beyond. 

Through the vision, direction, and leadership of Pastor Arnold B. Cook and his wife, Ethel Cook, Stone-Eden Christian School was founded and established in 1982. The school was to “give parents an option in their children’s education.” 

Opening on September 1, the school began with approximately 35 + students and 5 teachers, grades K-5 through 6th. The church’s Sunday school rooms served as classrooms for the students. 

The Lord has proven Himself faithful to this ministry through the years. We have seen years of growth, decline, and regrowth. We have added a Jr. and Sr. High School building and a gymnasium. Our classes have varied from grades up to 11th grade, down to 8th grade, and back up to our first graduating class in 2005. What an honor and reward to have been able to experience this. And the Lord continues to be faithful. 

With the blessings of the Lord, we have seen lives changed for Him. Students and parents alike have made important decisions to follow God’s leading.
